First GPRS data cards arrive

GPRS is here... We have the cards to prove it
Written by Graeme Wearden, Contributor

Next generation wireless technology took a small step Monday when BT Cellnet announced what it claims is the first GPRS data card for laptops and PDAs.

The card will work on the BT Cellnet GPRS network at speeds of around 27kbit/s, compared to the 9.6kbit/s typically offered by today's GSM connections.

The data cards should be on sale by September/October this year, retailing at between £100 and £200 (excluding VAT).
