Five years ago: Apple mulls Next OS option

Apple could go back to its roots by making a port of NextStep the answer to its operating systems fiasco

According to a report in this morning's Wall Street Journal, Next chief Steve Jobs is in talks with his old company after wobbles in Apple's bid to buy another OS maker, Be Inc. and continuing glitches in the in-house developed Copland. A third possibility is licensing Sun's Solaris software, the Journal claims.
