Freecom has introduced its latest creation, the Mobile Drive Mg, which at 10mm thick is the "thinnest mobile hard drive available in the world."

With its silvery magnesium enclosure, the Mobile Drive Mg is touted as ideal for Apple MacBook Pro owners. (That push is also helped by the fact that these portable hard drives will only be available through Apple Premium Resellers.)

As for performance, this USB 3.0-powered external HDD boasts transfer speeds up to approximately 130 MB/s, but it is backwards-compatible with USB 2.0 interfaces.

According to Engadget, Mobile Drive Mg will go on sale next week at the following pricing scale:

  • $69.95 - 320GB
  • $109.95 - 750GB
  • $119.95 - 750GB model with both USB 3.0 and FireWire 800
