The winner of the contest will take up the job of caretaker of the islands of the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland for a time and be responsible for producing content about what is considered to be one of the state's core tourism attractions.

A Gartner spokesperson confirmed that Queensland-based Hailey Turner was a contractor for the analyst firm, working in event sales telemarketing. Mainstream press has described the Queensland resident as an "IT worker".

According to what appears to be her LinkedIn profile, Turner has also worked for Telstra and Australian Business Research. "Although it can't beat 'the best job in the world', it's still a great learning opportunity," Turner wrote on her website about the Gartner role. She is also studying business part-time at the Queensland University of Technology.

As part of her campaign to win the Tourism Queensland role, Turner has travelled to international cities Tokyo, New York and London to drum up support. She has also made use of social networking tools like Twitter, blogging, Facebook and more to promote her quest. You can vote for Turner on Tourism Queensland's contest website.
