It's time for another device that turns your iOS device into a universal remote control. Today's release, the UnityRemote, comes from Gear4.

Taking advantage of UnityRemote requires only two parts: a free app from the iTunes App Store and the small, circular device (pictured above) that can be placed anywhere in the room. Using Bluetooth, the iOS source communicates with the cylinder, which sends an infrared command in 360 degrees back via five infrared transmitters.

The UnityRemote differs from similar universal remote option as this one focuses solely on controlling TVs, DVD players, cable boxes and other home theater devices rather than searching for specific content and programming.

Available now for $99, the UnityRemote is compatible with iPhone 3G/3GS/4, iPod touch 2G/3G and the iPad.
