German ID cards hacked

German ID cards have be hacked by members of the Chaos Computer Club, according to news website the Local.The ID cards, which will be used from November, were hacked for a TV news programme aired last week, according to the Local article.

SmartMX chips for the ID cards are being supplied by Dutch semiconductor company NXP.

NXP's MiFare Classic cards, which were used in Oyster London travel cards, were repeatedly hacked in 2008.
