The Members Project, organized by American Express, is running an online nomination and voting campaign aimed at funding ideas that will have a "positive impact" on the world. There are several different categories, including a bunch of projects focused on energy, green tech and alternative fuels. At this link, you'll find information about anything from solar generators to wind farms in places like Brooklyn.

As of this writing, you have about one more week to nominate ideas that you think are worthwhile. As of Labor Day, the nomination collection will close. The Top 25 most popular ideas from within this bunch will be selected by a panel of experts and announced about a week later, and site visitors can vote on what they think are best of the best. On Sept. 30, the Top 5 of those ideas will be revealed and, on Oct. 14, the grand prize winner will be disclosed.

I'm sure some of these ideas are pretty out there, but if you know of a project that is funding-worthy, you should get the word out. For inspiration, here's some information about last year's finalists.
