Give a Kindle Book for the holidays--no Kindle required

Amazon has just announced a way for you to gift an electronic book to someone for the holidays
Written by Joel Evans, Contributor

If you were thinking of buying someone a book for the holidays, Amazon has just announced a way to give an electronic book, and save some trees. The Give Kindle Books program allows anyone to buy another person a Kindle Book--no Kindle required.

With the proliferation of Kindle readers out there, the giving a Kindle Book concept is brilliant. Now you just need to know the e-mail address of the person you want to buy a book for, purchase the book, and the recipient will be notified of a waiting gift for them to enjoy.

I recently celebrated a birthday and my wife bought me an old-fashioned paper-based book. My first thought was, "Why didn't she buy me an electronic one?" She had her own reasons, but it wasn't until I read today's announcement from Amazon that it became clear that there wasn't a straight forward way to gift a Kindle book to someone.

You can start gifting Kindle Books today at Amazon.com/givekindlebooks.
