Gnomedex: Why is John Edwards at the geek event?

One of the highlights at tomorrow's Gnomedex conference in Seattle is the lunchtime keynote by Senator John Edwards. In this video, Gnomedex host Chris Pirillo, alongside co-host Ponzi Indharasophang, explains why he thinks the Senator is showing up at the blogger-laden event.  Edwards supposedly will focus on tech issues and not on his usual political themes, but what isn't political? Net neutrality?
