Good news for Samsung: Half of Galaxy Note 7 phones exchanged, buyers opting to stick with device
Samsung announced Friday that about half of all recalled Galaxy Note 7 phones sold in the US have been exchanged through Samsung's voluntary recall.
Despite the massive financial impact, Samsung stepped up to the plate to quickly recall the Note 7 and provide customers with an exchange solution.

The company just issued a brief press release reporting on the current US exchange status with the following statement:
Samsung Electronics America, Inc. announced today that about half of all recalled Galaxy Note 7 phones sold in the US have been exchanged through Samsung's voluntary recall. Additionally, 90 percent of Galaxy Note 7 owners have been opting to receive the new Galaxy Note 7 since the phones became widely available on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
Two days ago I purchased my replacement Note 7 and received the software update that added a green battery indicator and more. I am extremely pleased with the performance of this new Note 7 and a fan of the coral blue I chose this time around.
People who purchase Samsung Galaxy Note devices tend to do so because of the S Pen and functionality not offered on any other device. Thus, it makes sense to hear that 90 percent of Note 7 owners are opting to replace the device they purchased with the same device. I'm sure Apple and others were hoping to see switchers here, but Note buyers like their stylus and Samsung took quick action to remedy the situation.
