Google is now providing a self censored version of their search engine to China.  They are basically removing any services that contain user interaction, and blocking certain keywords that the Chinese government would oppose such as Falun Gong.  The stripped down version of Google only contains web, image, news and local search but hopes to include other services in the future.

A translated version of Google is hosted in the US, but they said within the next few months it will be hosted in China to provide speedier service to that country.

It's will be interesting to see if they can one day bring all of Google to China without serious opposition from the Chinese goverment.  I wonder if Google would cooperate with Chinese government requests for information about queries done by users in China?  Will they be as reluctant to give up this type of information in other countries?
