Just awhile ago, news reports were popping up with sneak peak videos and details about the much-awaited, upcoming Google Chrome OS release. But as of a few hours ago, it looks like we can sample it for ourselves.

To be able to do so, you'll need VMWare running on your computer (PC, Mac or Linux). You can then download the image from Gdgt (And that's after creating an account. Annoying, I know, but if you really want it, that's what you have to do.) Google also has released the operating system's code as an open source document for external developers to get cracking.

If you're interested in the full recap and details on the Chrome OS from yesterday's event at the Googleplex, check out ZDNet's Sam Diaz's post here.

If you download the Chrome OS preview, please let us know how it works for you in the TalkBack section.
