About 6 months after launching “free” Google Base, as a “place where you can easily submit all types of online and offline content”, Google integrated an AdWords ad creation module to generate paid AdWord campaigns from within Google Base:

If you're familiar with Google AdWords, you'll be happy to know that we're now enabling you to create AdWords ads for individually posted items in Google Base, right from the Google Base edit item page.

Google launched another “free” product last week, Google Co-op:

Google Co-op is about sharing expertise. You can contribute your expertise and benefit when others do the same.
