Google launches new Search app for iPhone, Google+ is fantastic too

Google creates some excellent applications for iOS and two recent updates that you should download include Google Search and Google+ for the iPhone.

Google is supportive of iOS and has recently launched a couple of updated apps that even appear to be better than what they have on the Android platform. A couple of weeks ago Google rolled out an updated Google+ app for the iPhone that is very slick. I enjoyed using it more on my iPhone 4S than on Android devices and actually started using Google+ even more. Today, they announced an updated Google Search application that is faster and simpler, with a graphically pleasing new image search interface.

The new Google Search app is availble for free in the App Store. Unfortunately, the iPad version has not been redesigned yet. The new features for the iPhone are listed as:

  • Complete redesign
  • Improved speed: get to search results faster
  • Beautiful full-screen image search
  • Swipe away webpages to quickly return to search results
  • Search within a webpage using the built in text finder
  • Easily switch between images, places, news, and more
  • Fast access to Google apps like Gmail, Calendar, Docs and more

The new Google+ is visually a joy to use and I especially like the instant upload feature to get all my photo up on my private Google+ album. Google+ also supports video chatting in Hangouts, Google Messenger support, and nearby location-based streaming.
