Google powers Tassie transport

in brief Tasmanian Premier David Bartlett announced on the weekend that Google Transit will be part of a $16 million investment in Tasmania's public transport system.
Tasmania will join Adelaide and Perth in utilising Google Transit to complement its public transport system. While Melbourne, Canberra and Darwin do not use Google Transit, the application is currently used on Sydney's privately run monorail and light rail services.
Built on Google's map application, Google Transit provides commuters with transit directions, transit stop locations, transit information and timetables in partnership with local transport authorities.
At time of publication the Tasmanian Government was unavailable for comment.
