update The Federal Government has yet to complete a tender process to supply computer equipment to all federal government agencies, missing its own May deadline.

The whole-of-government tender aims to set up a panel of vendors for the supply of desktop equipment, rather than separate departments issuing individual tenders.

The tender process aimed for completion at the end of May and with the deadline passed the $400 million deal still looms.

ZDNet Australia contacted the Department of Finance and Deregulation and was told that "the tender is still under evaluation and not going to be discussed at this stage".

The government is also in the midst of choosing panellists for whole-of-government telecommunications and internet services.
