Haephrati in Israel

According to Reuters Michael and Ruth Haephrati, the creators of the Trojan that was used by Israeli firms to spy on each other (see my posts) have finally been extradited to Israel. I wish I could hear the interview they gave to an Israeli TV station where Michael Haephrati claims the software was developed as a prank on his ex wife.

Then Ruth Haephrati takes all the blame for selling the Trojan to private investigators in Israel. Here's a lovely quote from Ruth:

"I take full responsibility for my mistakes," she told Channel Two. "Michael always told me, 'Don't do it. Don't get in touch with the investigators. I have a feeling they are misusing the system.'"

Michael has a feeling? A feeling brought on by seeing the deposit of confidential files in his FTP servers maybe?

So his defense is going to be: "It's my wife's fault". And her defense is going to be "I didn't know it was wrong."

I just hope the executives at the Israeli firms that hired private investigators to spy on their competition get their day in court.
