When I think of Liz Claiborne, fine yet quite reasonably priced outfits and accessories come to mind. There are a total of 36 brands, most if not all of which are displayedinboutiques, specialty clothing stores as well as department stores.

But let me tell you a little secret. These items got there largely through the diligent efforts of Liz Claiborne's hard-working field sales and distribution forces. And, it's increasingly likely thoseimpeccablyattired reps may be carrying a Cisco IP phone in their handbag.

Today, Cisco announced that its4 millionth Cisco Internet Protocol phone was sold, and that the buyer was Liz Claiborne. Via the phone's XML capability, the fashion firm's employees can log on from any location and conduct business.

Portability is key: the built-in Cisco Extension Mobility feature eliminates the need for reps to check multiple voice mail systems if they do not happen to be in their home office. Liz Claiborne field personnel also use the phones' Cisco Conference Connection to schedule and attend conference calls.
