High-tech industry lost 333,000 jobs in 2003 and 25,000 jobs in 2004

High tech industry nationwide lost 25,000 jobs out of 5.6 mln workers in 2004, compared to 333,000 jobs lost in 2003 and the 612,000 jobs lost in 2002, AeA says.

High tech industry nationwide lost 25,000 jobs out of 5.6 mln workers in 2004, compared to 333,000 jobs lost in 2003 and the 612,000 jobs lost in 2002, AeA says. High-tech manufacturing industry employment fell by 32,000 jobs between 2003 and 2004. The biggest 2003-2004 manufacturing job losses were recorded in computers and peripheral equipment (-11,900) and electronic components (-5,500). The software services industry added 30,300 jobs in 2004. The engineering and tech services industry added over 30,000 jobs in 2004. US high-tech venture capital increased by $1.1 bln, or by 10%, in 2004. US high-tech exports increased by $20 bln in 2004.
