Storage provider Hitachi Data Systems has decided to set up a local office in South Australia.

Hitachi Data Systems said in a statement today that the new office aims to provide greater support to its customers in the state.

Based in Adelaide and set to open on 3 January 2011, the new South Australian office will be headed up by ex-Symantec staffer Chris Clarkson.

Clarkson will take the role of state manager for South Australia. The new office will see an initial team deployment of four staff members in the region with a view to expand over time.

Managing director of ANZ for Hitachi Data Systems Neville Vincent said that the move into South Australia was an exciting one.

"We are in an excellent position to grow the business by providing better understanding, technical support and resources to help our channel partners and customers build cost-effective and sustainable storage and cloud solutions," Vincent said.

Hitachi Data Systems also has a presence in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, as well as two offices in New Zealand.
