Buying eco-friendly products is finally becoming affordable. Home Depot has unveiled the EcoSmart LED, which reportedly boasts a life expectancy of up to 22 years. Although, it's only guaranteed to last for five years.

The EcoSmart A19 light blub, the first of the EcoSmart series, produces approximately 429 lumens and is the equivalent of a 40W blub. However, Home Depot argues that their bulb will use up to 80% less energy than a comparable 40-watt incandescent light bulb, and consumers should see a reduction of up to $155 for energy costs over the life of the A19 bulb.

Geared for indoor uses (table lamps, ceiling fixtures, etc.), the energy-efficient A19 costs $19.97 per bulb. Sure, that seems like a lot for just a light bulb, but it's probably better to look at this as more of an investment as the A19 bulb will "pay for itself" in under two years in energy and replacement bulb savings.
