Have you ever wondered what IT security officers do on their days off? The answer seems to be that they're as security-conscious at home as they are at work, according to this article.

Here's ten of the things they get up to: 1. They protect their homes using CCTV, keyless entry systems and motion detection software. 2. They use a huge battery of security software to protect their computers, and those of their families 3. They closely surveille their kids' use of text messaging and social media such as Facebook 4. They monitor credit watching systems to ensure that they and theirs don't suffer from identity theft 5. They monitor the safety records of airlines, including crew training programmes and aircraft maintenance records, and avoid flying on those at the bottom of the list 6. They ensure that members of groups travelling together face one another when standing so that they have a 360-degree view 7. They keep their software patches up to date 8. They run content filters on their home networks 9. They use shop windows as mirrors to see who's walking behind them 10. In a restaurant, they always take a table facing the door

They're not paranoid, said one -- they're just careful.
