Net2Phone has announced that in response to a revised $2.05 tender offer from IDT for the Net2Phone stock that IDT does not already own, the Independent Committee of Net2Phone's Board of Directors will examine, consider and vote on the revised offer.

We should hear something by Monday, December 19.

As I have written before, I have trouble understanding why Net2Phone - a recognized softphone brand with hundreds of thousands of users worldwide- would sell themselves off so low while their technology could be a vital part of a major brand's phone strategy.

So if I'm a Net2Phone director, maybe I approach NewsCorp. and ask them how they would like to buy me out, and then maybe integrate Net2Phone with applications such as MySpace.

I even P'shopped a GUI. If the organizer of the event announced in this MySpace screen grab was willing to take calls, he could get a Net2Phone icon added to his listing. The icon would be clickable to a Net2Phone app, or to an applet that would spawn the Net2Phone interface on the user's PC.

Or, as I have written before, maybe I contact Amazon and ask if they would like a way for their prospective buyers to contact sellers...

Alas, I am not a Net2Phone director, adviser or even a user.  But I am a blogger capable of seeing the bigger picture...

And making a picture when I see it...
