A little tip I learned about how to have a "sticky" article on the top of your Front Page, in the official Joomla! Secrets.
Essentially, go the Front Page Manager and give your sticky article a negative (eg -1) Order value. All subsequent articles will have a positive value, and therefore will come after the sticky article.
