HP announces 3.0 software upgrade for MediaSmart EX470 and EX480

Hewlett-Packard has a treat in store for MediaSmart EX470 and EX480 owners: the company is issuing a DVD with 3.0 software updates that only more recent models have. Yay!

Currently only available to MediaSmart EX490 and EX495 editions, users can get the upgrade DVD via HP's website. WeGotServed has full instructions if this pertains to you. Some of the updates include auto media transcoding and improved Mac support.

The downside? The update comes with a $25 price tag. Bummer. But its €25 across the Atlantic, which is totally more than $25, so at least you're not getting ripped off like the European owners.
