Online survey platform provider SurveyMonkey has a fancy new board member -- HP CEO Meg Whitman.

SurveyMonkey has been in the process of rebuilding its leadership team and board of directors since the unexpected death of CEO David Goldberg in May. Goldberg's widow, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, joined SurveyMonkey's board in July.

For Whitman, who also sits on the board for Proctor & Gamble, the gig marks her first board appointment since 2011. It also reunites Whitman with SurveyMoneky CEO Bill Veghte, who left HP in June to takeover the vacated leadership role.

Veghte worked closely with Whitman while at HP, leading the separation efforts for HP's enterprise group as the company prepares to break its enterprise business and PC and printing business into two publicly traded companies. Veghte was also a close friend of the late Goldberg.

"I am personally looking forward to Meg's perspective as we focus on delivering solutions that provide convenient, real-time access to the insights, opinions and data that matter most to our customers," Veghte said in a prepared statement.

In addition to Sandberg, Whitman joins Veghte, along with David Ebersman, Dana Evan, Ryan Finley, Lee Fixel, Zander Lurie and Benjamin Spero on SurveyMoneky's board.
