HP does good by India with expanded tech recycling program

Hewlett-Packard has shored up its recycling program in India, moving outside of its corporate focus to accommodate consumers and smaller businesses. Under the program, starting May 15, HP customers can drop various HP-branded technology (including printers, scanners, fax machines, notebook and desktop PCs, monitors, handhelds, cameras and other components) at 17 locations in nine Indian cities.  The company plans to add more drop-off locations over the next year.

HP actually began remarketing used products back in 1981, although that policy was a whole lot sexy back then. It started its recycling programs in 1987. The company is aiming for a recovery goal of 1 billion pounds between its last project milestone in 2007 and the end of 2010.
