HP nabs $88M outsourcing deal

Hewlett-Packard has won a five-year, $88 million deal to take over the data-processing services of the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company's Systems and Defense Electronics business unit, HP said Tuesday. Under the outsourcing deal, 110 members of the EADS computing staff will become HP employees at three new HP facilities in southern Germany. Other bidders for the contract included EDS and IBM, HP said. EADS is a defense contractor that designs aircraft, spacecraft and military technology. --Stephen Shankland, Special to ZDNet News
