HP picks up AJ Lucas work
in brief Hewlett-Packard and its partner Astron Technology have picked up a multimillion-dollar deal to continue a services and products relationship with engineering and construction firm AJ Lucas.
The pair have overhauled the company's datacentre, desktop and communications infrastructure, according to a statement issued by HP this morning, in a five-year deal valued at $6 million.
"After eight years of rapid organisational growth, AJ Lucas needed a strategic plan to enable the business to gain control of IT, reduce costs and establish a platform for continued expansion," said Simon Soon, group manager of IT for the construction and engineering group.
The package included IP telephony, new desktops and laptops, including more than 300 notebooks, and a datacentre with 32 HP BladeSystem servers and associated storage.
