HP shipped most servers last year, says Gartner

Gartner today released its figures for worldwide server shipments. The segment grew 15 percent in the fourth quarter of 2004 compared with the same quarter in 2003. HP holds its lead with shipments of 546,955 units, earning it 29.2 percentof the market. Dell, with the greatest year over year growth, came in second with 20.3 percent of the market. IBM still holds the third spot overall, while Sun, in fourth place, had the lowest growth of the top five.

According to BT Trax data, HP is also in the lead with server mindshare, with 18 percent of the total news read over the last month--abigcontrastto thecompetition with just single-digit mindshares.
