HTC One to be released in the UK this week

HTC says that its range-topping handset will be available to buy in the UK from this week, with other European countries, the US and the Asia-Pacific region to follow.

HTC's new flagship phone, the HTC One, will go on sale this week in the UK, followed by the rest of Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific in the following weeks.

"HTC has seen unprecedented demand for and interest in the new HTC One... The new HTC One will roll out in the UK, Germany and Taiwan this week and across Europe, North America and most of Asia-Pacific before the end of April," HTC said on Monday.

The phone had initially been due to go on sale 15 March . The handset maker said a few weeks ago that the device would be delayed slightly, adding that customers in the UK that hadn't pre-ordered would have to wait until the start of April to buy it, but that HTC would begin fulfilling pre-orders at the end of March.

Some industry analysts speculated that the cause of the delay lies in problems securing the supply chain of some of the key components of the handset.

HTC gave no reason for the delay in shipping the HTC One, which runs on Android.
