i2 adopts IBM's DB2 Universal Database
IBM's DB2 Universal Database will also support TradeMatrix, i2's e-marketplace platform, offering a wide range of solutions and services.
IBM's DB2 Universal Database addresses B2B customer demands for high performance, rapid response time and 24x7 availability. Currently, a number of key TradeMatrix services are supported by IBM's DB2 Universal Database, such as commerce, fulfillment and procurement, with additional services scheduled to be available soon. New capabilities will include:
Customer data capture at the point of interaction
DB2 Universal Database Version 7 makes it simpler both for dot.com companies and large corporations conducting
B2B commerce on the Web to gain competitive insight about their customers. It also can reduce application deployment
time, in many cases by almost half, and perform high-speed Internet searches up to 10 times faster than traditional
relational database search engines.
To meet growing market demand, IBM also has integrated functions to make it significantly easier and faster for
customers to migrate from other databases to DB2.
"The combination of DB2 and i2 solutions provides a sure-fire advantage for companies conducting B2B on the
Web," said Jim Kelly, vice president of marketing, IBM Data Management Solutions.
