IBM acquires Vivisimo, adds to analytics portfolio

Vivisimo's software scans unstructured data, automates discovery and puts it in an easy to navigate format.

IBM has acquired Vivisimo, a privately held enterprise search and discovery software player.

With the move, IBM said that it bolster its analytics and big data software capabilities.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

IBM said the plan is to take Vivisimo's software and add it to its business analytics portfolio. Vivisimo will be lumped into IBM's software group.

Vivisimo, based in Pittsburgh, has about 140 customers in multiple verticals. The company counts Airbus, Procter & Gamble, Lexis Nexis and a host of government agencies as customers.
