iBooks updated with Random House catalog of 17,000 titles

Apple's big press event is underway in San Francisco today, but the first big announcement concerns iBooks and a new partnership with Random House.

Even though Random House refused to join in on Apple's agency model for e-books last year, the publishing powerhouse made the jump to the new pricing scheme yesterday.

Obviously, this led way to speculation that Random House would bring its titles to the iBookstore, which is definitely true now. In fact, Random House is delivering 17,000 digital books to Apple's online book company.

Random House joins approximately 2,500 other publishers already selling content in the iBookstore, and 100 million books have been downloaded to iBooks in the last year.
