IE 4.0 preview code misses deadline
Microsoft has missed its first quarter deadline for posting a pre-release version of Internet Explorer 4.0 for public consumption but the firm insists the code is "imminent".
"We wanted to post yesterday but a late decision was made not to," said Jeremy Gittins, Internet platforms product manager at Microsoft. "We were hopeful of making the Monday deadline but the qualification was that we wanted to make sure it has enough functionality such as support for Dynamic HTML and 'push' functionality and, even though this is a preview, it had to be sound."
"However, I know it's imminent... Put it this way, I'm not having a holiday in the next few days but if it's a week, it's a week. It's not a big deal"
