In bid for SMBs, Doyenz debuts rCloud; 15-minute disaster recovery

Doyenz says its rCloud product will help small and medium businesses restore virtual environments in less than 15 minutes.

Bellevue, Wash.-based cloud recovery firm Doyenz announced this morning a new product, rCloud, which it says will help small and medium businesses restore virtual environments in less than 15 minutes.

The idea is to use automation to keep unplanned disasters manageable and cut down on the effort (and expense, in terms of support) needed to do so -- something for which SMBs have little budgetary wiggle room. Doyenz says its product is cheaper than what's available for SMBs today and allows IT departments to access data anywhere via a web browser.

RCloud is built for VMWare environments and can replicate VMWare ESX machines via full and incremental backups. It also allows IT pros to log on to verify server images and thus data integrity as well as test changes on a server replica before deploying them to production.

Pricing starts at $1,000 per month and includes one terabyte of protected storage.
