The 2004 North American market for industrial electronic monitors and operator interface terminals totaled $659 mln. Shipments are expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.4% to $760 mln in 2006. Vendor 2004 industrial operator interface application software revenues derived from North American markets totaled $244 mln. These revenues are expected to reach $281 mln in 2006, expanding at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7.3%.

The 2004 market for graphic operator interface terminals was the largest among all the terminal product types under study. This product market also is expected to have the largest growth in terms of dollar volume through 2006. The high demand for graphic terminal products is a result of the shift away from graphic monitors, and to some extent from PC-based solutions. In 2004, the largest share of vendor industrial operator interface application software revenues were derived from products which went into end user applications, with a smaller share for OEM & systems integrator applications. However, a major shift is forecast with the share for OEM & systems integrator applications expected to be the largest in 2006.
