Infor acquires GRASP in push to expand healthcare suite

Summary:Infor plans to leverage GRASP's existing portfolio to deepen its healthcare suite of services.

Infor on Tuesday said it has completed the acquisition of GRASP Systems International, providers of automated workload management systems for the healthcare industry.

GRASP's factor-based methodology measures workload at the intervention level, and touts workload efficiency tools that help organizations reduce labor and operational costs.

Infor plans to leverage GRASP's existing portfolio to deepen its healthcare suite of services. Specifically, the deal will allow Infor to build out the Infor Workforce Management for Healthcare by utilizing information from Infor Cloverleaf and real-time analytics from Infor Care Path Optimization.

Duncan Angove, president of Infor, said in prepared remarks:

Adding this functionality will enable health systems to go deeper than ever in understanding how staff resources are used in patient care and the costs associated at the patient procedure level to predict not only patient staffing needs based upon patient diagnoses, but also cost while benchmarking against their peers.

Infor has been positioning itself has an alternative to fellow enterprise app vendors Oracle and SAP. Infor's CEO Charles Phillips chatted with ZDNet earlier this month, calling out healthcare as a focal point. The GRASP aquisition certianly follows up on its plan to go deeper into verticals than its competition.
