Enterprise software vendor Infor has invested $25 million in the retail cloud provider Predictix. The investment gives Infor a minority stake in Predictix with an option to purchase the company in full.

Under the agreement, Infor will resell Predictix applications as a part of Infor CloudSuite Retail, Infor's industry-focused ERP platform for merchants. Infor will also use underlying technology from Predictix to bolster its analytics and sales and operations platforms.

The deal builds upon Infor's $675 million purchase of supply-chain management software GT Nexus last year. Infor said it plans to merge technology from Predictix and GT Nexus into the platform it's building with Whole Foods.

Last year the high-end grocer opened up its entire operations as a learning lab for Infor engineers and designers, giving Infor's CloudSuite Retail platform a real-world test bed to iron out potential kinks.

Rolled out last October, CloudSuite Retail addresses a litany of commerce requirements, including software for item, inventory, cost and order management, as well as applications for replenishment, allocation and integrated planning.

Atlanta-based Predictix has worked with retailers including Crate and Barrel, Whole Foods and The Home Depot.
