Intel outlines chip roadmap

Intel Corp will push the performance of its Pentium III Xeon processor for workstations and servers past 700MHz in 2000.

The company, which is expected to announce 600MHz and 667MHz versions of the chip in October, will up the performance of the chip and add integrated cache in 256KB, 512KB, 1MB and 2MB increments in 2000, said John Minor, an Intel vice president, this morning here at Intel's Developer Forum.
