Intel rubber-stamps Symantec deal for protection

Semiconductor giant Intel today announced a deal with internet security specialist Symantec to protect the firms' Pentium 4 processor range.

Symantec will incorporate Norton's Internet Security 2001 package into the P4's D850GB desktop board, to provide internet entry-point protection against attempted intrusions, viruses and malicious code. Tom Matson, MD for Intel's desktop boards and systems marketing group, said in a statement: "Symantec offers a security product compatible with the advanced computing power of the Intel Pentium 4 processor to support the quality and added-value commitment of Intel desktop boards."
