in brief Internet service provider (ISP) Internode will extend its ongoing rollout of high-speed ADSL2+ broadband infrastructure to a further 50 telephone exchanges on the nation's east coast.

"Internode has committed to a multi-million-dollar upgrade of its ADSL2+ deployment schedule from 67 exchanges to 113 exchanges throughout the country," the ISP said in a statement issued late yesterday.

The hardware installed in Telstra's telephone exchanges allows Internode to sell broadband at speeds of up to 24Mbps in the surrounding area.

"We expect to have ADSL2+ in most of these new exchanges by the end of the year," said Internode managing director Simon Hackett in the statement.
