Iomega is offering a free download for Microsoft Windows users designed to help them transition to the upcoming Windows XP operating system. Iomega's software essentially takes a snapshot of a computer's settings and data, storing them on Iomega Zip disks so they can be transferred to an upgraded or new computer using Windows XP. The software preserves application data, Internet and e-mail settings, font and folder options, and other Windows settings.

Microsoft estimates that a typical person using XP will move about 200MB worth of settings and data. Zip disks come in 100MB and 250MB capacities. --Richard Shim, ZDNet News
