Iomega is amping up its move to SuperSpeed USB 3.0 portable hard drives with the announcement that consumers can still expect good old USB 2.0 prices.
Starting with the eGo series, the faster external HDDs will be available in 500GB and 1TB capacities in early October, along with Drop Guard Xtreme accessories for protection from drops of up to seven feet.
Each eGo 2.5-inch HDD includes AES 256-bit hardware encryption, and users can expect transfer rates up to 5Gbps.
The Prestige Compact series will follow suit early next year, with USB 3.0 eventually making its way to all Iomega portable HDD models.
