iOS 5.0.1: is Siri fair dinkum fixed?

The first update to iOS 5 is out, and Apple has promised better dictation results for Australians using Siri on the iPhone 4S. Does Apple live up to its promise to make Siri more fair dinkum with her results?

We spoke to Siri about the impending robot apocalypse, our plans for a nice trip to Paraguay and the merits of damsels trapped in towers to see if Apple's promised fix for Australian dictation, released today in the form of iOS 5.0.1, delivered the goods.

Having now tested Australian Siri dictation on iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1, I'm not sure that one could call this a "fix" — it's merely an improvement.

The voice assistant still performs very well, and with iOS 5.0.1 it continues to improve, but we have to keep in mind that Apple still has a big red "beta" sticker on Siri, so we must forgive its foibles.
