A new bug/security hole has been discovered in iPhone OS 3.0 where email messages that have been deleted from the device are still visible via a Spotlight search. Yikes!

It works like this: delete an email from your iPhone or iPod touch, then delete it again from the trash folder. Then flick over to the spotlight search screen and search for the email -- boom, there it is.

Apple knows about the bug and Gizmodo expects it to be fixed in iPhone OS 3.1.
