Is Microsoft banning "modded" Xbox 360 consoles from Xbox Live?

Summary:I've just received a number of emails from Xbox 360 users who claim that their modded Xbox games consoles have been banned from Xbox live.

I've just received a number of emails from Xbox 360 users who claim that their modded Xbox games consoles have been banned from Xbox live.

All the emails I've received are from people who claim to be running an Xbox with modified firmware (modded firmware allows game backups and pirated games to be played on the Xbox).  The stories I've read are pretty consistent ... basically a sudden disconnect from Xbox Live followed by an inability to reconnect.

Affected consoles are chucking out the following status codes:

W: 0000-000B X: 0000-F009 Y: 00A8-6820 Z: 8015-190D

Many of the Xbox forums (such as Xbox-Scene.com) are also buzzing with this news.

Looks like Microsoft has closed the doors at Xbox Live to modded consoles.

I've emailed Microsoft and I'll post more information as I get it.
