Dell has launched a series of 2-in-1 devices at Computex with a headliner being a 17-inch version.

The company's latest 2-in-1 devices are billed as personal laptops that come in a variety of colors and screen sizes. The 11-inch Inspiron 3000 2-in-1 is a starter model and Dell has hit 13-, 15- and 17-inch screen sizes.

Dell's 17-inch hybrid is the one worth pondering. Dell touted its Inspiron 17-inch 2-in-1 laptop-meets-tablet as the world's first. A skeptic would note that there's a good reason the market isn't saturated with 17-inch hybrids. Is a 17-inch tablet-laptop akin to carrying around a TV set?

According to Dell, the 17-inch 2-in-1 offers wide viewing angles, a backlit keyboard and an infrared camera. These systems also have the latest Intel Core processors. Dell will sell the large hybrid device at Dell.com and Best Buy.

The Inspiron 17 7000 2-in-1 starts at $899 in the U.S. and China. The best equipped model is $1,349.99.
