Islamic hackers run amok in Pakistan

Punjab government target of hack attack after Pakistan coup

Islamic fundamentalist hackers have hijacked the official Web page of the Punjab Government following yesterday's military coup in Pakistan.

The site now carries messages commending General Pervez Musharraf who led the military in overthrowing the Nawaz Sharif-led Pakistani government. It also features a picture of an aptly downtrodden looking Mr Sharif as well as a number of obscene insults including one calling him "brainless and hairless."

A group calling themselves "Islamic group of Hackers" (Al-Sooraj wing) claim responsibility for taking over the site.

A number of Pakistan's other official government Web sites are also currently out of action.
