IT Anthems: Computas
Updated: Norway's knowledge management experts bring out a low-budget Eurovision-style version of a 1962 classic
After last week's full-on anthem from Fujitsu we present, for contrast, a more low-key production. This is the ironic, home-made Scandinavian approach from the Norwegian engineering company, Computas.
The song is apparently based on the 1962 pop hit, Tell Him, originally recorded by The Exciters (and produced by by the great Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller). This version, by members of the Computas staff, is perhaps one of the more eccentric versions recorded since then.
The first live performance was at a Christmas party in 1999 (hence the Millennium reference), when every employee was given the song on a CD -- surely a much treasured momento.
Despite the song's origin, this production has something of a Eurovision vibe. Memories of Abba led us to re-locate Computas to Sweden in earlier versions of this page. Apologies to Computas for that!
